Clouds should increase overnight Thursday.
Lows will only drop into the upper 40’s and lower 50’s. Clouds will keep us warm.
We are about to see showers and storms for Friday.
Friday, we will see a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Most of the storms will stay below severe limits, but a few isolated storms could have the potential to turn severe Friday evening. A marginal risk of severe weather is possible here for us west of the Blue Ridge mountains. The Storm Prediction Center includes the Potomac Highlands, Mountain Maryland, along with Mountain Pennsylvania in the risk zone. A portion of the Eastern Panhandle and the Cumberland Valley area also in the risk for a few storms turning severe.
A marginal risk means a few isolated storms may turn severe. Most of the thunderstorms that we will see on Friday will be below severe limits. The storms, however, could bring us strong gusty winds along with heavy rainfall. Most of the region will see at least a quarter to a half inch of rain. Areas within thunderstorms could see up to an inch of rain if not more!
We hope to see a few breaks in the clouds on Saturday with a leftover shower during the morning. However, Saturday should still be a good day to get some yard work done! Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 70’s during the afternoon. A pop-up shower cannot be ruled out.
Sunday, we will see another round of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Storms on Sunday may be stronger than the ones on Friday. Rainfall amounts could increase to a half of an inch to three-quarters with some localized locations seeing up to an inch to an inch and half! Be sure to stay tuned for the latest information on the potential for severe weather here at localdvm.com/weather or on your WDVM Wx app. Plus we will be tracking the storms here on WDVM 25 TV during the newscasts. We will also break into regularly scheduled programming if necessary. Be sure to tune in for all of the very latest weather information.
The weather will calm down Monday. Broken skies with a chance of morning showers will be possible with cooler high temperatures in the 60’s. This calm weather will continue on Tuesday, but we will see a bit more sunshine. Temperatures, however, will be slightly warmer. We will rebound into the 60’s and 70’s Wednesday.
A remote chance of a shower is possible Wednesday afternoon, but a greater chance of rain will come on Thursday with a slight rumble of thunder. We will be sure to track these upcoming weather events and bring you the very latest changes in the weather.
