Happy Thursday, everyone! Some scattered showers will move through the area this morning, but much of the first half of the day should remain dry. Better opportunities for rain, however, are on the way. Scattered shower coverage will increase through the afternoon and into the night, so be sure to have your umbrella ready to go just in case. A cold front will approach the region from the west on Friday and send a more organized chance for rain our way. Later in the day, we run the risk for some thunderstorm activity. A few of these storms may be strong to severe in intensity, with gusty winds acting as the primary concern. Be sure to keep an eye on the skies as we head through the end of the work and school week.
Cool and breezy weather moves in on Saturday as high pressure attempts to take over. Gusty winds will linger through the day, but at least we’ll also be treated to mostly sunny skies. Another chance for rain arrives on Sunday in the form of a weak low pressure system, but rain chances here are mainly confined to areas north of I-66. After this low departs, high pressure returns with another shot of chilly air (By late April standards, at least). Monday’s pleasant start to the week also is fleeting, as a daily chance for rain sets up shop via a stalled boundary to our south acting as a track for several waves of energy to move through the Mid- Atlantic. This begins on Tuesday and lasts through the middle of next week.
