Rain chances rise, while temperatures fall slightly on Thursday

Today's Forecast

Wet weather returns Thursday

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WDVM) — OVERNIGHT, THE COLD FRONT TO OUR SOUTH WILL START LIFTING NORTH. THIS SHOULD RESULT IN A GREATER RISK OF SHOWERS AND PERHAPS A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS SPREADING BACK TO THE AREA OVERNIGHT. LOW TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO RANGE FROM THE MID-60S TO LOW 70S. THE FRONT WILL LIFT A BIT FURTHER NORTH ON THURSDAY INCREASING THE HUMIDITY AND COVERAGE OF STORMS. IT WON`T BE A WASHOUT, BUT WITH SOME SLOW MOVING STORMS, ISOLATED FLOODING IS A POSSIBILITY. AFTERNOON HIGHS WILL AGAIN BE IN THE 80S, BUT A BIT COOLER THAN TODAY WITH THE GREATER CLOUD COVER AND RAIN CHANCES. THE WEAK FRONT WILL CONTINUE LIFTING NORTH THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE IT GRADUALLY FALLS APART. THIS, IN TURN, WILL KEEP OUR AREA UNDER A TYPICAL SUMMERTIME PATTERN TO END THE WEEK, WITH AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS AND HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS. AGAIN, WITH MORE CLOUDS AND RAIN AROUND ON FRIDAY, TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE LOW-MID 80S.

IN THE LONG TERM, THIS WEEKEND IS SHAPING UP TO BE DRIER THAN NOT, AS AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVERHEAD. THERE IS STILL THE CHANCE FOR A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSHOWERS THROWN INTO THE MIX, BUT BASICALLY THE WEEKEND IS NOT A WASHOUT. TRULY THE BEST CHANCE FOR ANY DIURNALLY DRIVEN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WOULD BE ON SUNDAY AS OPPOSED TO SATURDAY. THE AFOREMENTIONED WEAK AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE OFFSHORE MONDAY ALLOWING FOR GREATER COVERAGE OF AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING SHOWERS AND STORMS. IN ADDITION, TEMPERATURES WILL START TO RISE AND WITH HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS ALREADY IN PLACE, THE “FEELS-LIKE” TEMPS COULD ONCE AGAIN REACH THE TRIPLE DIGITS IN SOME AREAS.

OVERNIGHT: CLOUDS INCREASE WITH OVERNIGHT SHOWERS. LOWS FROM 61-75 DEGREES.

THURSDAY-FRIDAY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH STORMS. HIGHS IN THE LOW TO MID-80S.

WEEKEND: MAINLY DRY WITH SPOT SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S.

MONDAY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S

TUESDAY: MAINLY DRY WITH ISOLATED STORMS. HIGHS AROUND 90 DEGREES.

WEDNESDAY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH P.M. STORMS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S.

HAVE A NICE REST OF YOUR DAY!
