NOVA Forecast for Sunday 14 April 2019

Nova Forecast

We look to see strong to severe storms on Sunday. A low-pressure system will pass just to our northwest. The positioning of the low will give us more of a chance to see severe scattered storms.

Day Planner Forecast for Sunday 14 April 2019

Storms will be severe and scattered. Rainfall across the region will range from a quarter to three-quarters of an inch. Areas within heavy showers and thunderstorms could see up to an inch if not an inch and a half! We will likely see more in the way of damaging winds than we did Friday.

Winds will be out of the southeast on Sunday. Southeasterly winds will add to the mix of ingredients to produce severe storms. We do have a few saving graces, however. First, we will see showers out ahead of the main line. Rainfall out ahead of the front will try to stabilize the atmosphere. Plus we will see the heavier showers and storms coming into Sunday late and into the overnight. We will also have the benefit of the storms to occur at night, but do let this keep your guard down! Thunderstorms at night can still cause plenty of wind damage.

Southern West Virginia, Southwestern Virginia, and Northeastern Tennessee along with the highlands of the Carolinas to the northwest will see the most intense storms Sunday. Due to the time of day, they will likely see numerous showers and thunderstorms to turn severe. Showers and storms will then come to us during our evening and overnight, but we can still see severe weather during the overnight hours! Stay tuned to WDVM 25 Weather for the latest alerts in your region.

Severe Weather Forecast for Sunday 14 April 2019

Monday, we will see sunnier skies with a cold northwesterly wind. Winds could gust up to 40 mph with temperatures will drop throughout the day. We will start into the 60’s in the morning and quickly go down into the 40’s and 30’s Tuesday morning. We will see more in the way of sunshine Tuesday!

Wednesday will be rather sunny as well with a few more clouds will enter into the region. Highs will rebound into the 70’s. Thursday will bring on the clouds and a slight chance of an isolated shower. A higher chance of showers and storms will come Friday.

Friday we look to see another round of showers and thunderstorms. With the positioning of the low-pressure system and the upper-level dynamics of Friday’s potential storm should make for a lesser severe weather day than Sunday. Stay tuned! This forecast will be ongoing with changes during the week.
