Adam’s NOVA Forecast for 4.12.19

Nova Forecast

Thank Goodness it’s Friday! While the start of the day has been quiet, the afternoon and evening won’t be as lucky. A slow moving cold front will approach the region from the west, sending some scattered showers our way at first. Later in the evening and into the night, however, we run the risk for some gusty thunderstorms along with this rain. Part of the area is under a “Marginal Risk” for severe weather, with gusty winds acting as the primary concern. Please keep an eye on the skies if you’re headed out tonight. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday as the front stalls nearby, but much of the day should remain dry. It’ll also be unseasonably warm, with highs in the mid to upper 70s in much of the region.

A potent low pressure system will approach the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday, sending yet another opportunity for some unsettled weather our way. Its associated cold front will drag through the area on Sunday evening, sparking a decent chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms may be strong to severe, so we’ll need to keep a close eye on this developing system.

Some showers may linger into Monday morning before we dry out for the first half of next week. High pressure then moves to our east, setting up a strong return flow for the second half of next week. Another round of unsettled weather is in the cards for the later part of next week.
