Rain exits Thursday

Here are some rain total through Wednesday afternoon. A good soaking to this point, with more showers to come overnight.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WDVM) — GOOD WEDNESDAY! TODAY HAS BEEN QUITE WET, AS OUR LOCAL RADAR SHOWS COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION MOVING INTO OUR BACKYARD. THE WIDESPREAD SOAKING RAIN HAS BROUGHT OVER AN INCH TO RAIN IN PLACES, WITH MORE SHOWERS THROUGH THE NIGHT. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED ACROSS PARTS OF VIRGINIA, A FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. RAINFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM AROUND AN INCH OVER WESTERN MARYLAND TO 2-3 INCHES ACROSS NORTHERN VIRGINIA, SOUTHERN MARYLAND, AND THE DC METRO REGION. NOW SINCE RAINFALL HAS BEEN LACKING THE LAST TWO WEEKS, FLOODING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE, ALTHOUGH ISOLATED INSTANCES ARE STILL POSSIBLE IF ANY OF THE HEAVIEST RAIN BANDS FALL OVER THE SAME AREA. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS FORECAST TO EXIT OFF THE COAST BY MIDDAY THURSDAY AND BY THE EVENING THE WIND WILL PICK UP OUT OF THE NORTH, BRINGING IN DRIER AND COOLER AIR. TEMPERATURES WILL TREND BACK CLOSER TO NORMAL FOR MID-NOVEMBER, WITH HIGHS INTO THE LOW TO MID-60S AND LOWS IN THE 30S AND 40S.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, THE COLD FRONT WILL BE FAR ENOUGH SOUTH, THAT DRIER AND SUNNIER SKIES WILL RULE THE ROOST, ALTHOUGH OUR TEMPS WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE AS WARM AS THEY HAVE BEEN. THE NICE WEATHER WILL NOT STICK AROUND; HOWEVER; AS MORE SHOWERS ARE FORECAST TO MAKE A RETURN SUNDAY. OUR NEXT STORM ARRIVES SUNDAY WITH LIGHT SHOWERS LIKELY, FOLLOWED BY A STRONG COLD FRONT BRINGING BRISK CONDITIONS TO THE AREA. THIS WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK BEFORE TEMPS BEGIN TO MODERATE LATE NEXT WEEK.

TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS RANGE FROM 49-67 DEGREES.

THURSDAY: EARLY SHOWERS WITH SOME LATE CLEARING. HIGHS AROUND 60 DEGREES.

FRIDAY: VARIABLY CLOUDY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 60S.

SATURDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY WITH INCREASING CLOUDS OVERNIGHT. HIGHS IN THE 50S.

SUNDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE 60S.

MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGHS IN THE 50S.

HAVE A GREAT REST OF YOUR WEEK!
