I270 Forecast

GOOD WEDNESDAY! ANOTHER ROUND OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON, WITH AN “ENHANCED RISK” FOR SEVERE WEATHER ALREADY IN PLACE. HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS ARE THE PRIMARY CONCERNS ONCE AGAIN, BUT THERE’S ALWAYS THE NON-ZERO RISK FOR A TORNADO OR TWO. JUST LIKE YESTERDAY, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR FUTURE UPDATES. IN ADDITION TO THE POSSIBILITY OF STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS, IT’LL BE ANOTHER HOT AND HUMID DAY. THE UNOFFICIAL START OF SUMMER STARTED MONDAY AND HAS CERTAINLY FELT LIKE IT TO THIS POINT. ANY STORMS THAT DO DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON, ARE FORECAST TO LINGER INTO THE EARLY TO MID-EVENING TIME FRAME, SO CONTINUE TO STAY WEATHER ALERT, EVEN AFTER THE SUNSETS.

A FEW MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THURSDAY, WITH ANOTHER PIECE OF ENERGY MOVING THROUGH THE REGION AND A COLD FRONT APPROACHING FROM THE WEST. FOR THE THIRD DAY IN A ROW, WE’LL RUN ANOTHER RISK FOR SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS IN THE PEAK HEATING HOURS. BY FRIDAY, THE SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT, IS FORECAST TO SAG TO OUR SOUTH ( CENTRAL VIRGINIA), GIVING US A MUCH NEEDED BREAK FROM ALL THE RAIN AND ACTIVE WEATHER. THE WEEKEND STARTS OFF NICE, BUT SOME SHOWERS AND A FEW STORMS ARE POSSIBLE BOTH SATURDAY EVENING AND ON SUNDAY AS A NEW COLD FRONT LOOKS TO PUSH INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC. COOLER, DRIER, AND MORE STABLE AIR RETURNS FOR THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT WEEK.

HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR EXTENDED FORECAST:

TODAY: MORNING T-SHOWERS POSSIBLE, THEN STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON.  HIGHS: 85-94. WEST WINDS AT 5 TO 15 MPH, WITH HIGHER GUSTS IN ANY STORM.

TONIGHT: SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY, ESPECIALLY BEFORE MIDNIGHT, THEN BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOWS: 66-72. WEST WINDS AT 5 TO 15 MPH.

THURSDAY: MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S TO AROUND 90.

FRIDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH GRADUAL CLEARING. COOLER AND LESS HUMID. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S TO LOW 80S.

SATURDAY: PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY EARLY, THEN LATE DAY /EVENING T-SHOWERS. HIGHS AROUND 80.

SUNDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF THUNDERSHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.

MONDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S.

TUESDAY: PARTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S.

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND STAY WEATHER ALERT!
