Plenty of sunshine this weekend, but highs will be in the 90s. Keep close to the shade and drink plenty of water as we endure the first heatwave of the summer season. More humidity moves in tomorrow and Monday, so get out today and enjoy your day.
If you happen to be out for a long duration of time, be sure to wear sunscreen! The UV index will be very high over the next few days. Keep an eye on air quality too. For example, the Pittsburgh metropolitan area Saturday is under a code orange! If you happen to be up that way, wear a mask and limit outdoor air exposure. A code orange means that the air could be potentially dangerous for sensitive groups with underlying health conditions.
Showers and storms help us beat the heat as we head into next week. While the week will not be a complete washout, keep the rain gear in handy just in case a shower begins to pop. In addition, air temperatures will cool down towards the average temperature for this time of year as we head into the latter half of the week.
Here is a look at your 7-day forecast:
Saturday: Sunny skies with an off chance of a pop-up shower during the afternoon. Most of us will be high and dry with daytime temperatures topping off in the 90s.
Sunday: Sunny with a bit more humidity. Highs will be in the 90s.
Monday: Hot and humid with a chance of thundershowers. Highs will be in the 90s.
Tuesday: Breaking the heat potentially with showers and storms. Highs in the 80s and 90s.
Wednesday: A summertime’s shower or storm with highs in the 80s and 90s.
Thursday: Rinse and repeat, but with highs only in the 80s, but still humid.
Friday: Cooler, but continued chance of showers with a rumble of thunder. Highs in the 80s.
