UPDATE: One injured after 5-car crash, vehicle entrapment on I-81


UPDATE 7:13 p.m. — One person involved in the accident has a broken leg, and no other injuries were reported. Police said that while no cause or fault has been determined yet, no one was driving impaired.

It took nearly an hour to free both of the drivers.

MARYLAND (WDVM) — I-81 Southbound is closed at exit 6 due to a vehicle crash with two people trapped in separate vehicles.

Responders report that the call first came in around 2:06 p.m. 5 vehicles were involved in the crash, including three tractor-trailers and two passenger cars.

One of the cars was sandwiched between two tractor-trailers, and both drivers of the cars were trapped. Responders took “quite some time” to free the drivers, and both patients were transported by ground to Meritus.

Maryland State Police is investigating this crash. Drivers are diverted off from the exit to US-40.
