Women in Need hold annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser

News
Women in Need for Franklin and Fulton counties held their annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” fundraiser to raise awareness about sexual assault.

More than 150 men traded in tennis shoes for high heels. The men walking in high heels is a symbol to show they are opposed to domestic violence. Despite the rain, the men came out on Main Street to strut their stuff for a good cause. Towards the end of the race, and with a lot of effort, some of the participants were running to the finish line.

“I would never want anyone to feel all this in their ankles I guess, it hurts. I’m going to have blisters on my toes,” said Ethan Remsburg, a participant

Organizers say it’s important to remember that men, just like women, can be victims of sexual assault.
