Winchester Police Department hopefuls were busy on Friday, breaking a sweat to complete their fitness test to become a member of the department.
Lt. Robert Bower said that it is important for potential officers to be fit.
“I think this process is very good,” Lt. Bower said. “We want officers to be fit for their safety and the community safety.”
More than 40 applicants took to the streets to run a mile and a half. They also had to complete a vertical jump, a 200 meter run, push ups and sit ups
Only four of them from Friday’s round will become Winchester Police Department Officers.
The next Winchester Police Department recruitment drive will be held in spring 2018.
