Winchester City Council seeks public input on vehicle personal property taxes

News

Winchester City Council members are reviewing plans to change its vehicle personal property taxes billing cycle for residents and city businesses.

“At this point, there is no forcing anyone to change,” said Commission of the Revenue Ann Burkholder. “If we were to convert to standard billing all at once, we would have to do a lot of back billing. That would be a terrible financial burden on our taxpayers.”

On Wednesday, city officials said that residents have voiced concerns about how the system operates and about the features they would to be able to use.

Winchester City Council tabled the ordinance at its regular meeting on Tuesday to seek public input.
