Senatorial Candidate Evan Jenkins’ last stop in the Eastern Panhandle before the primary elections was focused on job creation.
Jenkins who is currently West Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District Congressman since 2015. Was welcomed to a local small business, Countertop Solutions, in Martinsburg. Members of the Eastern Panhandle’s Home Builder’s Association were there to share their concerns with Jenkins after giving him a tour of the facilities. Jenkins said he has heard many of the same issues being brought up across the state, but he recognizes that the Eastern Panhandle is unique.
“There are a lot of unique aspects about the Eastern Panhandle. There are a lot of things that are going really well but there are challenges finding workforce people to go to word,” said Jenkins. We need people to come and take these job opportunities.
A lot of topics were covered by the group including healthcare, broadband services and the labor shortage facing businesses similar to Countertop Solutions.
