Tractor-trailer crash on I-81 NB backs up traffic for hours

West Virginia

Traffic was backed up for nearly 10 hours on I-81 north bound early Tuesday morning while police and a hazmat team cleaned up fuel that had spilled onto the roadway, after a tractor-trailer hit a wall in the median.

The crash shut down all north bound lanes beginning at mile marker 8, Tabler Station Road in Inwood.

Some drivers reported being stuck in traffic for three hours.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to a local hospital.

The roadway has since re-opened as of 10:15 a.m.
