Spring Mills High School students went head-to-head during the Meals-Ready-to-Eat cook-off competition.
WV Army National Guard Recruiter Staff Sergeant Angelo Gilbert provided military MRE supplies for students to prepare a gourmet dish using ingredients from the meal kits and kitchen. Ingredients range from pasta to black beans.
According to a press release, students who competed are the advanced foods and nutrition class and are ready for this exciting challenge after many months, and in some cases years, of training
Students had under an hour to prepare the meal for judges who then ranked them after the contest was completed. Eleventh grader, Lauren Wrye took home first place.
