Rockwool files lawsuit against Jefferson County Board of Education

West Virginia

Rockwool filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Jefferson County Board of Education, causing even more controversy over its proposed plant in Ranson, West Virginia.

According to federal court documents, Rockwool signed an agreement with the Board of Education and the Mayor of Ranson for permission to open its facility in the city.

However last Tuesday, the Board of Education sent a letter to Rockwool, an industrial manufacturing plant, making an offer to buy acres of land where the company plans to build a new plant.

School board officials determined a need for the construction of a Regional Student Support Center there, documents say.

Rockwool filed a lawsuit against the board because Rockwool officials say this undermines their original agreement signed back in 2017.
