A Jefferson County elementary school is celebrating learning and showing off their resources for parents and students, especially those who speak in many different languages.
Ranson Elementary School is a proud Title I school that has one of Jefferson County’s highest English language learner (ELL) populations. To support those families, there are several resources available including a translator and an ELL program that parents could learn more about.
“It’s very important for them to have those ELL services so that they can become proficient in their English and they can move on in their academic skills,” said Lorena Nathan a translator at the school.
Nathan says research shows that it can take someone seven years to become fully proficient in another language.
