Prom Promise holds mock accident at Martinsburg High School

West Virginia

Prom Promise and local law enforcement gathered together at Martinsburg High School to give students a first-hand look at what a drunk driving accident looks like.

Drunk driving is always a problem, especially around prom night. With the help of Martinsburg Fire Department, Martinsburg city police, Browns Funeral home, Les’s towing, and the drama department, students had the chance to see the process, beginning to end, of a fatal head on collision.

Four members of the drama department played the roles of the crash victims. One played the role of the drunk driver, who was given sobriety tests, then “arrested”. Two others played the role of seriously injured occupants, who were “transported” via ambulance. The final played the victim who “lost her life” in the crash.

The obvious goal of this event is to show as many students as possible the grusome nature of what drunk driving can lead to.
