The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have identified a suspect in the Harpers Ferry bank robbery that occurred Friday afternoon.

The suspect is described as being a dark skinned man approximately 5’7 to 5’10.

Police say shortly after 3:40 p.m. they were called to a bank robbery already in progress at the Bank of Charles Town on Washington Street. They say the robber left a package at the counter and said it had a bomb that would blow up if anyone did anything to stop him from leaving. Police evacuated the bank as a precaution to examine the package. They determined that the package did not contain any explosives.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is still looking for the suspect. They say if you have any details you are encouraged to give them a call. You can reach them at 304-728-3205.
