Martinsburg fire chief resigns

West Virginia

After serving the Martinsburg Fire Department for over a decade, the fire chief has submitted his resignation, according to the Martinsburg City Attorney.

Chief Paul Bragg has been serving the Martinsburg Fire Department since 2001. But according to the Martinsburg City Attorney Floyd “Kin” Sayre, Bragg resigned from the position on Monday, December 10.

Sayre says that the department’s three fire captains will fill in the position until a new chief has been appointed.

“The city manager has been working hand and glove with our three captains, who are in charge of the shifts of our fire department, to ensure that there is no interruption in service,” said Sayre.

Sayre says the department captains will take care in advertising the opening for the fire chief position.
