A body found Thursday morning in West Virginia in a field on the 4300 block of Summit Point Road, is being investigated as a homicide case.
Police were dispatched to the scene at 8:15 a.m. after a driving passerby noticed the body, but got no response after honking their horn.
The man found dead was African American and appeared to be in his twenties.
The body was already cold when police arrived on the scene and there was blood on the victim’s face.
“At this point there was a few pieces of evidence collected from the scene. a diagram was done for measurements any other information that might prove worthwhile through the investigation. the body will be sent to Charleston for an autopsy and of course, pending identification, a notice of next of kin,” said Sgt. Robert Sell of Jefferson County Sheriff’s office.
There are no leads at this time and the victim currently unidentified.
