Update: The South Berkeley Volunteer Company said I-81 Southbound is now open between mile marker 8 and mile marker 12.
The lanes were closed early Thursday for an overturned tractor-trailer and heavy fuel spill near Inwood, West Virginia.
The incident happened at mile marker 8 (Tabler Station Road) and the call was reported at 12:45 Thursday morning.
No injuries reported, but the road is estimated to be closed until 11 a.m.
According to Berkeley County emergency dispatch, traffic traveling southbound on I-81 may exit at mile marker 12 and take Apple Harvest Drive to get on Route 11.
Commuters may also take Apple Harvest Drive westbound, go over the mountain and take Gerrardstown to Exit 5 to get back on the interstate.
