A church in Harpers Ferry is undergoing a much needed make over.
Church officials said the last time Mannings Assembly of God was renovated was in the 1960’s. The four-day project is part of several of the Potomac Ministry Network’s projects, in which they pick three churches a year to restore.
The nearly $30,000 repair brought community members from around the state to put their skills to the test. They participated in everything from painting, working on the flooring, to building a sound booth and more.
“It looks bigger and more inviting. They’ve installed a sign for us so they really have done a lot over the last couple of days,” said Pastor Steve Lewis.
“I’m like I’m all for it because we come in and we help out for ones who couldn’t do it on their own and we do exactly what my father in law would’ve liked,” said Fairfax resident Chris Maylett.
About 30 people from all over the state helped out. This is the 19th church that the Potomac Ministry Network has helped turn around.
