Family separation protest held in Harper’s Ferry

West Virginia

The rain did not stop dedicated protesters in Jefferson County voicing their opposition against the Trump Administration’s family separation policy.

Women’s March united with Vigilance Jefferson County rallied in front of the local U.S. Customs and Border Protection Advanced Training Facility in Harper’s Ferry. They rallied peacefully holding signs, some saying “Stop the Cruelty” and “We are the Children,” announcing their opposition against the administration. Demonstrators say they believe families belong together.

“Because this is not right. My great great grandfather came to the east shores in 1761 after having been threatened with beheading out of the battle of cologne. He was welcomed here by the crown. Why can’t these people be made good West Virginia citizens,” said resident Danny Lutz.

About 30 people attended. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were on hand making sure the protest didn’t spiral out of control.
