Dashcam Video of West Virginia State Troopers Allegedly Beating Teen Released

West Virginia

MARTINSBURG, WV (WOWK/AP) –  Dashcam video that shows the alleged beating of a teenager by West Virginia State Police Troopers has been released by the Berkley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Authorities originally denied media requests for the video, citing the investigation.

Two state troopers and two sheriff’s deputies were fired in January.  Austin Ennis, one of the deputies who was fired, recently got his job back. It’s not clear what’s the status of C.S. Merson, the other deputy who was fired. Sheriff Curtis Keller says he hasn’t received a written report in reference to C.S Merson, so he was unable to comment further.

One trooper was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on one count of deprivation of rights under color of law — language used to describe crimes committed by police officers while on duty.

The indictment accuses Kennedy of using excessive force resulting in bodily injury.
