A traffic stop led to the arrest of two drug distributors in Berkeley County on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said they saw 25-year-old Tyler Wynkoop, of Harpers Ferry, using heroin while parked in the area of Winchester Avenue.
As the deputies approached in their vehicle, police said Wynkoop drove away with 24-year-old Jessica Hoffman, of Gerradstown, in the passenger seat.
Deputies caught up with the couple a short time later and said they found 20 grams of suspected heroin during a vehicle search.
During booking, deputies said they found individually wrapped packets of bath salts in Hoffman’s purse.
Wynkoop was charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Hoffman received the same charges as Wynkoop, plus possession of bath salts with the intent to distribute.
Both were taken to the Eastern Regional Jail.
