The Berkeley County Council met on Thursday to go over the proposed zoning ordinance around the Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport.
The ordinance limits the height of objects and regulates placement of certain structures within specific areas of noise level. County officials say the purpose is to provide a protection zone for safety, especially in the runway zones, which are most prone to flight accidents.
“The more you have in and out of there, the more chance you have for a problem so you want to look at it real closely and make sure that we as a community are doing the best we can to protect the citizens of Berkeley County,” said Vice President of Berkeley County Council Dan Dulyea.
Dulyea says millions of dollars are invested in the airport. He says the next step is to evaluate concerns.
