A counseling service in West Virginia is offering a new peer support group program free of charge.
It’s just been two months, but Nurture and Balance in Martinsburg will be opening its doors to help people battling depression and anxiety. The sessions will be peer to peer groups. Bianca Stevens and her partner Nicholas Trietsch pioneered the program, that initially derived from Bianca’s passion. Both are trying to fight the stigma associated with these symptoms.
“Run by people who have it, we understand the unique challenges that it presents and what that allows us to do is that we can address not just from a clinical standpoint but what it’s like experiencing that in your every day life,” said Stevens.
Stevens says anyone can register for a session online or over the phone with or without health insurance.
