The Warren County Building Committee met on Monday to discuss its plans for a new fire station.
At the meeting, the committee reviewed floor and site plans to replace the aging Rivermont Fire and Rescue Company #2.
Warren County officials said that the new station will cost about $5.5 million.
The second floor of Rivermont Fire and Rescue Station can’t be used due to structural problems.
Warren County Fire Chief Richard Mabie said that everyone’s looking forward to the new station.
“This will be the second time that the county got involved in replacing a fire station,” Chief Mabie said. “For us, we are getting rid of this old building. We are not sure how safe it is.”
The volunteer fire company’s station can only fit two beds.
Construction on the new station is expected to start mid-summer 2018.
