With help from community, Prince William County police make arrest in fatal hit and run

Virginia

A tip from a community member helped the Prince William County Police Department solve a fatal hit and run case that occurred in February.

Police report Yohance Trim of Triangle, Virginia was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan when he struck and killed 62-year-old Gregory Sawyer in the area of Graham Park Rd. and Old Triangle Rd. Sawyer died a week later.

Sergeant Jonathan Perok says inaccurate witness descriptions of the vehicle led them in the wrong direction.

“Initially, we believed that we were looking for a pickup truck and it turns out it was a minivan that struck the victim,” said Perok.

Trim has been charged with felony hit and run.
