Winchester SPCA celebrates National Unicorn Day

Virginia

Tuesday was National Unicorn Appreciation Day and the Winchester SPCA decided to adopt out unicorns disguised as cats and dogs.

For $25 you were able to take home your very own unicorn. All “unicorns” are spayed, neutered, micro-chipped with age-appropriate vaccinations. The event was all day with several pets waiting to find their forever home.

According to the National Day Calendar website, unicorns are a symbol of empowerment, love and purity.

“We give a take-home unicorn horn for everybody who adopted today. So we’ve been really busy, we’ve had nine adoptions so far,” said Winchester SPCA executive director Lavenda Denney.

The SPCA says while no dogs or cats were really turned into unicorns, they sure do look adorable in their horns.
