Winchester Police make several arrests on gun, drug charges

Police responded to the 1000-block of Orchard Avenue

WINCHESTER, Va. - Police in Winchester made several arrests over the weekend on multiple gun and drug-related charges. 

Police responded to the 1000-block of Orchard Avenue for the report of a man with a firearm trying to gain entry into a home.

When they arrived, police arrested 40 year-old Shah Richardson-Banks. After searching him, police found a bag of an unknown white powder as well as $3,700.

While at the scene, police spoke to witnesses, and their testimonies led to additional arrests of 38 year-old Jodie Kelly and 36 year-old Kathryn Polkar, who were charged with possession of a controlled substance. 

Police also arrested another suspect, 34 year-old Rachel Safford, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant. 

Richardson-Banks and Safford were each transported to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center. Safford is being held without bond.
