The Winchester Model Railroad Club is open only 5 days out of the year and this Sunday was one of those days. The club held its first open house of the holiday season.
Every year the railroad club is open on the two Sundays before Christmas, New Years Eve, the second Saturday of March and the second Saturday of November. The club works on constructing the model railroad every Tuesday night so it’s ready for visitors to see on these special days.
“Everybody can remember having trains for their childhood. We always do it for Christmas because that brings back the memories of the childhood with the train around the tree,” original club member Wayne Corbett.
The club is in their 35th year and Wayne says their biggest night of the year is New Years Eve.
