Tim Kaine and Jennifer Wexton discuss the recent tragedies in America

More from Northern “Virginia

After a week filled with tragedy, Tim Kaine and Jennifer Wexton made their first stop in Winchester to kick-off their final tour of Western Virginia before the election.

Both candidates discussed the week’s events including the packages sent to well-known political figures, the shooting of two black individuals in a Kentucky grocery store and the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. They shared what these events mean for the November 6 election.

“I’m very unsettled about it and I think it makes it even more important for voters to put people in office who know how to bring people together. We need to reject division, hatred, fighting one against each other and put people in place who know how to work together,” said Virginia Senator, Tim Kaine.

Senator Kaine says that Virginia is the first state in the nation to close the polls on election night and he wants Virginia to be leader as the final results come through.
