Three young men are under arrest after an assault and attempted robbery in early October at a skate park in Front Royal, Virginia.

Connor Keane, 19, of Mount Jackson, Va., Corey Smith, 19, of Stephens City, Va., and an unnamed juvenile suspect were charged with malicious wounding and attempted robbery. Smith was also charged with brandishing a firearm.

On October 9, the victim Steven Brown and a friend were at the Warren County Skate Park when five males approached them. Front Royal police say the five young men attempted to rob Brown, who refused to give them any money.

According to police, Smith flashed a handgun in his waistband, but did not draw the weapon fully. The three suspects then allegedly beat Brown, leaving him with serious injuries.

“He required two surgeries,” said Sgt. Jason Winner of the Front Royal Police Department. Winner did not know the specific type of surgery Brown underwent, but stated that Brown “had to have a steel plate to repair his orbital socket in his face.”

Winner says the victim and the suspects were acquaintances and the incident may have stemmed over one party owing the other money.

Police ask anyone with information to contact them regarding this incident.
