When Daniel Shores isn’t teaching recording and sound mastering to Shenandoah University students, he is busy making Grammy award-level musical masterpieces.
Shores recently found out that a project he engineered titled “7 Words From the Cross” has been nominated for a Grammy in the immersive audio category.
He explains the album’s grouping of pieces was put together to represent the last seven words of Christ — performed by a vocal ensemble out of Boston.
Shores, who is also a Shenandoah University commercial music program alumnus says it feels great to have gone to school for the craft and have continued success.
“We’re just there to serve the music and so for me to see that the artist was recognized in their category, but then to also receive a personal nomination for the engineering side of things just made it exceedingly special,” said Shores.
Shores and his wife will be flying to Los Angeles to attend the awards show on February 10, and hopefully will bring the Grammy back to Winchester.
