In her 100 years on Earth, Julia Niemeyer hasn’t lost her sense of humor. The secret to living to 100-years-old? Niemeyer will tell you: choose your parents carefully.
On Friday in Manassas, Niemeyer celebrated her birthday with family and friends with a tea party at The Things I Love. The celebration was belated, however; Niemeyer held her big celebration on her birthday in October.
Niemeyer moved from Tennessee to the D.C. region to work for the Federal Trade Commission as a stenographer, where she met her husband of 47 years. While her husband passed away 30 years ago, Niemeyer enjoys the company of her three children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
“I’m just very happy with my family. They’ve been so good to me. They are so good to me. I just thank the Lord for them every day,” said Niemeyer.
