Project Peace addresses domestic violence in Arlington

Virginia

Project Peace, a countywide collaboration that responds to domestic and sexual violence, kicked off Domestic Violence Awareness Month with its public session, Taking a Stand: Addressing Domestic Violence in Arlington.

Thursday evening it hosted panelists like Arlington County Board Member Erik Gutshall, Delegate Mark Levine of Virginia’s 45th district, and Commonwealth’s Attorney for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, Theo Stamos.

“It’s unfortunate that [domestic abuse] continues to happen but as a community and as a society and as a nation we’ve taken a stand and it’s no longer something that’s swept under the rug — it’s front and center,” said Stamos.

The event also featured activist and domestic gun violence survivor, Kate Ranta.
