Prince William County Police Department makes crime info available to public

Virginia

Ever wonder what kind of police activity is happening in your neighborhood? The Prince William County Police Department has published that information on crimereports.com.

The police department says this is all an effort to be more transparent with the community. The site allows current and future residents to search for crime incidents within the 348 square miles of Prince William County. Users can create incident alerts and register any camera on their property to assist police in solving crime.

“You’re never going to know victim information, any sort of cases that are active or ongoing — those aren’t going to display but it will give you a general idea of what goes on in a particular neighborhood,” said Sergeant Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department.

Any posted crime is accompanied with a dial box if a community member wants to get more information from the police department.
