Power outage in Frederick County, Va. and surrounding areas

Virginia

Nearly 5,200 across the northern Virginia region have been without power since this afternoon because of freezing rain, falling trees and downed power lines, according to the Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.

They confirmed most of these outages are within Frederick County, Virginia and surrounding areas.

There is currently no estimated time for when service will fully be restored, but residents are advised to wait for the assistance of power crews instead of trying to fix it themselves.

This is a developing story.
