Police say woman charged with arson used cigarettes and matches

Virginia

Police continue to investigate the case of a Front Royal woman charged with burning down her neighbor’s home.

Fontella Fewell was arrested on Friday and is currently being held at RSW Regional Detention Center without bond.

Police report she confessed to setting the home on fire and there were security cameras in the area which caught her in the act. The criminal complaint states Fewell was a smoker and used cigarettes and matches to start the fire because she was upset with her neighbor.

“There may have been other things, it’s because of the area that it was in. He works on small engines so there’s a possibility that there could have been gasoline or oil from small engine repair,” said Front Royal Police Sgt. Jason Winner.

Fewell’s scheduled to return to court on June 4th.
