A McLean man is facing multiple charges, related to the death of his dog.
Police say they were called to the home of Robert Hutchins, 41, on Tuesday morning. Residents called 9-1-1 to report a trail of blood leading to Hutchins’ apartment door. Hutchins lives on the 1600 block of Spring Gate Drive.
While performing a welfare check, officers found Hutchins and his dead dog inside the apartment. Detectives and animal protection officers were called to the scene to investigate. Police say evidence was recovered “implicating Hutchins’ involvement in the dog’s death.”
Hutchins was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony animal cruelty, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a felon and firearm use in the commission of a felony. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
