New York man indicted for sexual assaulting a minor

Virginia

A New York man was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury in Virginia for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in 2008 and 2009.

In Shenandoah County, 60-year-old Richard Provenzano, of Albany, was charged with three counts of forcible sodomy and a misdemeanor offense of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Provenzano was arrested back in March of 2018 for the misdemeanor charge. According to the criminal complaint, Strasburg police responded to a 911 call from Little Italy, where a teenage employee said Provenzano had asked her to help him enter information into a dating website. During that interaction, the employee said she saw porn on his phone, making her uncomfortable.

Police arrested Provenzano on March 30, 2018, according to court records. Investigators learned that Provenzano allegedly assault another minor repeatedly in 2008 and 2009, when he lived in the area.

Provenzano is out on bond and due back in court in December.
