MTV Solar starts non-profit solar donation program

Virginia

MTV Solar is a renewable energy solutions provider that has served the four state area for years.

They said solar panels makes perfect financial sense for everyone because it can lower your utility bill.

“The other part of it is people love solar, they love the sun, it’s a good thing to do, it’s going green, it’s good for the environment, makes you feel better about using power,” said Mike McKechnie, CEO, MTV Solar.

Because of their great success, they have started a non-profit solar donation program.

“It’s giving back to the community we live and work in,” said McKechnie.

How it works is when a homeowner or business purchases a system from MTV Solar, they will donate one additional panel in the person’s name to whichever organization they wish to support. Either the Laurel Center or Independent School of Winchester.

“It really helps the nonprofits that need help that are maybe getting some of their funding cut and this is a way to supplement that,” said McKechnie.

For every panel put on the roofs of the Laurel Center or the Independent School of Winchester, it will reduce their electric bill forever, but that’s not the only reason why they call it a legacy gift.

“Once the installation is complete, I come back out, I fly the drone again, and take aerial shots of the installation and frame it and give it to the residential or commercial owner,” said Jabari Baker, Business Development Manager.

MTV Solar is bringing light to local organizations that are in need while also helping the community go green.
