Chef-owner, Wayne Howard, opened American Prime in McLean about a year and a half ago. Seven years ago, Howard and his co-owner entered their other restaurant, Epic Smokehouse, into restaurant week.
“It’s just a great way to get the word out as well as get more people that have never heard of you, or folks that are on a budget, to try your food and enjoy your food,” said Howard.
American Prime is one of many restaurants featured in the Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week, which runs until January 20th. It prides itself on a fine-dining food without the fine-dining prices.
Also in McLean is Assaggi, an authentic Italian restaurant with a pizzeria next door. Its general manager, Maurizio Arberi, from Sardegna, Italy, says it’s the only one of its kind in the area.
Assaggi opened nine years ago. Since then, it’s been renovated and its owners have hired a new chef from Lake Como, Italy.
