Low cost rabies and microchip clinics serving locals for nearly 30 years

Virginia

On Thursday the Animal Welfare League of Arlington hosted one of its regular low cost rabies and microchip clinics, a service its provided local pet owners with for nearly 30 years.

With microchips costing $30 and rabies vaccinations costing $10, Thursday’s price tags were nearly half the price of what pet owners see at the vet.

Microchips are small location devices inserted with a needle between an animal’s shoulder blade used to reunite pets with their owners.

“If that pet goes missing and ends up in a shelter or veterinarians’ office we scan them, that number pops up, and we call the owner right away,” said communications specialist Chelsea Lindsey.
