The Least of These foundation and Project Hope are two organizations that have been helping Haitians in the previous year.
They have now organized new efforts to help Haitians affected by Hurricane Matthew.
“This doesn’t take much to really put a smile on their face and to really make a life long impression on them. What we do is not only life changing, it’s life saving,” said Least of These President, Larry Thompson.
The founder of the Least of These, Larry Thompson, said he travels at least four times a year back to Haiti. He said he has a scheduled trip for the end of October.
“We’d like to be able to get enough money to go down and make sure that we can help them in whatever they need, whether it be some medication or building materials,” Thompson said.
Project Hope has already sent one team of three people, and plans to send more medical volunteers to help.
“The medical teams are gonna be mobilizing, being able to help strengthen the health system, working with doctors and nurses, wherever they are,” said Senior Director for Technical Strategies and Innovations for Project Hope, John Bronson.
Project Hope has been in Haiti for over 25 years, helping with different types of projects, and has had a connection to the Caribbean country.
“We felt this was our obligation, as someone who knows Haiti and has been very effective there, to be able to respond. We have resources to contribute. We can always use more resources but we can send medical supplies, expert volunteers and we can help the Haitians try to recover from this,” said Bronson.
