Have you seen this peacock? Community searches for lost peacock Chip

Kate Hogan was in Italy with her family when she got the news: her pet peacock had escaped. Her friend Kelly Rutkowski was staying at her home during her two-week vacation and says she walked outside to find Chip on the roof of a 10-foot-tall shed.

Rutkowski went to get a ladder, and returned to find Chip in the trees. By the following day, he was gone.

A week later, Chip is a local celebrity. Hogan posted to her Facebook page, and there have been about 30 sightings of Chip in just one week.

“I just fired off this post from a bathroom in Italy…it completely snowballed,” said Hogan.

Chip is hardly bothered around strangers. But Rutkowski says he recognizes her when she tries to get him down from the tall trees he sits in.

Ironically, Chip was last spotted on Featherbed Lane in Lovettsville, drinking out of a pond at a horse farm.

Hogan says peacocks love grapes and cat food. If you happen to see Chip, lure him into a closed space and contact Kelly Rutkowski by direct Facebook message.
