History buffs gathered in the Handley Regional Library’s auditorium Tuesday morning to learn about Winchester’s past.
The city’s Director of Planning, Tim Youmans , gave a nearly hour-long talk about the city’s history to a large crowd, which organizers described as a mix of long-time residents and people who are new to Winchester or just visiting.
Youmans hopes that his talk encourages more people to get involved in the local historical society and to help them enjoy Winchester’s rich heritage.
“We want people to come visit, particularly Old Town Winchester,” said Youmans. “And take in all the cultural and historical and architectural offerings that we have.”
Library staff say that the event was so successful, they’re already planning a second event with Youmans, slated for an evening or weekend.
