The first Friday and Saturday of February marks national Give Kids a Smile weekend.
Dental offices across the country are offering free dental care for kids aged zero to 17 regardless of their ability to pay. The American Dental Association says since they launched the program in 2003, more than 5.5 million children have received free oral health services. Valley Pediatric Dentistry has served the Shenandoah Valley region over the past four years.
“We’ve been doing emergency care today, we’ve been doing fillings, extractions, lots of cleanings and giving away some free goodies to the kids,” said pediatric dentist Gaurav Agarwal.
The ADA reports that so far, over 300,000 kids have participated in this year’s event.
